There needs to be a law saying that house numbers should be twelve inches tall and always be located in the same place in relation to the front door.

You should see this area....
No curb markings and most of the houses aren’t visibly numbered. You can imagine how bad that is for Emergency Services.

Where I grew up, the town required you have them painted on the curb; white background and black numbers.

Most gps services have bad mapping here. They could send you three lots down from the actual address, which is totally fun when you’re down a winding dirt path and the only address markings to be found are little numbers nailed seven feet up a tree on the side of a road.

They should take up the whole side of the house and be illuminated like the empire state building.

My house is even more fun. I’m on a corner lot, so my front door faces the E-W street (which is my address street) but my driveway and the door everyone uses is on the other side of the house so the N-S street. Lots of people end up circling the block.

Same here, most addresses are offset. You kinda have to know them from charts/whatnot to actually know where you’re going.

Fully agree. In fact, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this ought to be a legal requirement. Whether you have GPS or not, one should always be able to fall back on clearly visible numbers.

I don’t think we need any new regulations like this. Maybe people don’t need to find the address.

You refer to the government as “The Man”, don’t you?

NO that would make it sound as useful as a person. It much much less usefully than any person i know.

As a person who delivers pizza I’m in favor of this. I actually prefer going to the rural areas cause they have big blue number signs by the road for ems people. In town on the other hand it’s a mess.

Clearly you don’t know me.

You seem to use better punctuation then the leader of our government.

We should just stop using the old irrelevant street numbers. Just say what street it’s on (if absolutely necessary) and give lat/long. Works one hell of a lot better.

I love the ones that are clearly visible before dark, but entirely obscured by back lighting once the sun sets.

Delivery driver? I deliver pizzas for a 2nd job and this drives me nuts. Or poor light such as the number a foot below a light so you can’t see it anyways.

At least yours have numbers. Maybe 50% of the homes outside of big cities and towns here have names. You get the street...and then have to drive up the whole thing looking for the name.
